Prince Charles Commends Booomers for Bamboo Bikes
On a recent historic visit to Ghana, His Royal Majesty, Prince Charles commended Booomers for their impressive environmentally friendly products. The Prince of Wales visited Ghana on the 2nd of November, 2018 as part of an official visit to West Africa. The Prince, who has been a long standing advocate for environmental sustainability, was full of admiration for the Booomers bamboo bikes and remarked, “I have heard so much about these bikes and am happy to finally see them. I am going to buy one.”
In his final speech during his visit, the Prince cited Booomers as one of the finest solutions to combating the effects of climate change and urged all local actors to support the initiative.
Booomers was one of the awardees for a Business plan competition in Ghana which was supported by the Department for International Development (DFID) through a Technoserve run program called ENGINE. Booomers is one of the highly successful examples of the program and has therefore become an example to other startups in Ghana and across Africa. Booomers bikes are resilient, strong and comfortable to ride. Apart from these qualities, the bikes provide livelihood opportunities in rural Ghana where we employ youth and women, empowering them economically. Buying a Booomers bike today will definitely change a life in rural Ghana.
